About Us
Valhalla Lodge is a cozy yet spacious 12-room guest lodge with ensuites, nestled in the tranquil alpine village of Perisher Valley. We accommodate up to 30 people, primarily small walking groups and corporate retreats during summer, and have built a long-standing reputation for exceptional service, premium accommodations, and mouth-watering meals. As a family-owned business, we pride ourselves on supporting our local community and delivering a truly unforgettable Snowy Mountains guest experience.
The Role
This full-time, live-in position includes meals and accommodation as part of your package. It’s a highly hands-on role that requires energy, versatility, and the ability to manage and handle all aspects of lodge operations. You’ll be part of a small summer team, alongside a chef/kitchen manager, and supported by our Sydney-based admin team who handle reservations and most admin. duties. You’ll work split shifts, mostly mornings and evenings, with occasional lunchtime duties.
Your responsibilities will include overseeing lodge operations and guest experience, and managing the lodge's liquor licence, building upkeep, and grounds maintenance.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Hosting and serving guests, including transportation
- Housekeeping: cleaning rooms, changing linens, maintaining lodge cleanliness
- Bar and restaurant service
- Kitchen duties: dishwashing, assisting with food prep
- Basic maintenance including lawn mowing, minor repairs and gardening
- Stock control, ordering, and cost management
- Leading, managing, training, and rostering staff
- Ensuring a safe, compliant, and welcoming environment for both guests and staff
- Occasionally cooking and / or supervising kitchen staff when the chef is off duty
About you
You likely have previous experience managing a hiking lodge, ski lodge, or similar accommodation property. Alternatively, maybe you’ve been leading a team in a similar environment and are ready for that next step up. You are fastidious about following rules and policies closely to maintain consistent, high-quality guest experiences. You’re physically fit and energetic, ready to handle manual tasks like making beds, cleaning bathrooms, mowing lawns, and even chopping wood.
You’re detail-oriented with a genuine passion for providing exceptional hospitality. You’re capable of working independently and leading a small team when needed.
Importantly, you’re comfortable living in a remote location, and working split shifts, weekends, and public holidays, and you’re confident in the kitchen, able to cook for up to 30 guests, including accommodating dietary needs when required.
Essential requirements include:
- Proven experience in lodge or accommodation management and hospitality
- Computer literacy and excellent communication skills
- Current First Aid, NSW RSA and Food Safety certificates (a Food Safety Supervisor certificate would be highly regarded)
- NSW manual driver’s license and access to your own vehicle (due to our remote location)
- National Police check and current / valid Working with Children check
- Eligibility to work in Australia
